Cycling tour in Myanmar: 14 Days / 13 Nights


RANGOON (YANGON) – MANDALAY – MYITTHA – MYINGYAN – BAGAN – MOUNT PAPA – MAIKTILA – KALAW – PINDAYA – NYAUNGSHWE – RANGOON

This bicycle voyage of discovery starts in Kipling's Mandalay on the Irawaddy River and follows near empty roads. We travel at walk-out through small villages stopping at local teashops, meeting the locals on the way. In Mandalay we visit the standard cities of Ava and Mingun before riding alongside the Irawaddy River to Bagan.Spend a morning cycling one of the thousands of pagodas, stupas, and temples that dominate a river valley. From Bagan we ride to Mount Popa to go to the hill top temple, before riding into your cool Shan hills.

Riding from the countryside, i will be greeted by friendly people, who've had little if any touching foreigners. Out in the wild we'll encounter various tribal people, in addition to experiencing the splendid colonial charm of Kalaw.After a ride through patchwork fields to understand the caves of Pindaya, we arrive at Inle Lake. The tour ends in Rangoon, or Yangon, where we visit the Shwedagon Pagoda.

This is the touring trip for mountain bikers and road cyclists. We ride indicate point through central Myanmar, covering just over 700 kilometres. Most rides are on country lanes with almost zero traffic. Rest days have been in Bagan at Inle Lake and time outside the saddle in Mandalay and Rangoon.

Day 1

Rangoon – Mandalay [D] Pick up the guest at Yangon International Airport and shuttle to our own meeting point (the Seasons of Rangoon Airport Hotel) where we now have rooms there for sleep or shower.( or grab your hotel in Yangon ) Also there is a swimming pool area available for you to enjoy. In the morning we fly to Mandalay and transfer towards Mandalay Swan Hotel.

Day 2

Mandalay Boat Trip and Ride [B,D] Take a ship trip the next day to Mingun, among the list of ancient cities the IrrawaddyRiver from Mandalay. Return in time for lunch and also a swim from the pool. In built, a quick ride around Mandalay finishing that has a ascend Mandalay hill.

Day 3

Mandalay – Myittha [B, L, D] Early ride to U Bein's bridge, the longest teak bridge in the world. Following back roads, ride through the traditional Ava Kingdon to Kyaukse. In manufactured we continue for the small area of Myittha, where we stay from our monastery. (Mosquito nets and mattresses provided).

Day 4

Myittha – Myingyan [B,L,D] Heading west along Highway Two, the audience has an opportunity to find its own pace. Ride the Irrawaddy basin through villages. Finish the ride in peak junction town of Myingyan.

Day 5

Myingyan – Bagan [B,L,D] Riding south alongside the truly great IrrawaddyRiver, using a dirt trail through pretty villages and cycle amongst stupas and temples to be able to Bagan. Stay during the existing city in expensive hotels with swimming pool and savor dinner from the famous hotel gardens.

Day 6

Bagan [B] Bicycles include the prefect approach to explore Bagan before returning for your welcome dip in the pool. Time for take pleasure in the sunset including a view you won't ever forget.

Day 7

Bagan – Mount Popa [B,L,D] Following your highway east, make the primary hill climb for the hill top temple of Mount Popa. After lunch climb up towards NatTemple. Lodge at a resort with views on the temple.

Day 8

Mount Popa – Maiktila [B,L,D] Downhill ride each and every morning before reaching Kyauk Padaung. Keep cycle to Meiktila on the road with light traffic, varied scenery and many stops. In built, ride descends before reaching Meiktila.

Biking distance : 95 km

Day 9

Maiktila – Kalaw [B,L,D] The longest, toughest ride from the tour. Type in the ShanState and cycle in to the mountains. Ride through Tazi as well as some smaller towns prior to the steep, winding 25-km climb for the hill station of Kalaw.

Day10

Kalaw – Pindaya [B,D] Downhill ride to Aungban before riding up in the hills. Head north to Pindaya. Riding along the Shan Plateau, enjoying rural scenes. After checking into the hotel, look at the famous Pindaya caves.

Biking distance : 55 km

Day11

Pindaya – Nyaungshwe [B,L] Ride to Aungban. One more section has two sweeping down-hills, ultimately causing InleLake. Cycle inland to Nyaungshwe, located at the north in the lake. Businesses of restaurants and dinner is choosing the guest.

Day12

Nyaungshwe [B,L,D] Like a full day boat trip on InleLake. Look at the five-day-market, Indein temples, floating gardens, monasteries as well as the Intha fishermen. Lunch is inside a secluded bamboo forest from the lake. After lunch visit several Intha cottage industries.

Day13

Nyaungshwe – Rangoon [B,D] Transfer to Heho airport and fly back to Rangoon. Visit the Shwedagon Paya in Rangoon, Burma's holiest religious site. Dinner is a Le Planteur.

Day14

Rangoon Departure [ B ] The morning is free of charge for shopping. Possiblity to visit Bogyoke Aung San market before maneuvering to the airport for the flight home.
